EDITOR’S NOTE: New Jersey Townbroadcast, has been on the case of the shut down web site and it’s back up and running. Apologies to readers for the technical difficulties.

With that in mind, first post will be this wrapup of Friday night basketball games that were not dutifully covered:

The site is still down, but I thought I’d pass along three scores from last night. GR Christian boys defeated Wayland boys 59-55. GR Christian girls edged Wayland girls, 53-50. Hopkins boys registered their fifth straight win, 67-38 over Belding.

Wayland boys now are 2-4 overall on the season and 0-1 in the O-K Gold. The Lady Wildcats are 1-5 overall and 0-1 in the league. The Viking boys are 5-1 overall and 1-0 in the O-K Silver.

Lady Vikings win 3rd blowout of the season

It’s a strange pattern, but it continues for the Hopkins girls’ varsity basketball team.

The Lady Vikings improved their season record to 3-4 overall Friday evening with a 68-31 victory at Belding. All three of their victories have been blowouts.

The win also was the season opener for Hopkins in the O-K Silver Conference.

The two teams played evenly in the opening quarter, with the Lady Vikings clinging to an 11-10 lead. But then they kicked the offense and defense into high gear, holding the host quintet to fewer than 10 points in each of the subsequent periods.

They were up 25-14 at the half and 47-23 at the end of three quarters.

Hopkins had three players score in double figures. Sophomore Kennedy Helderop led the way with 18, sister Brendalyn added 13, Mikayla Bulich netted 10 and Meghan Schulz collected nine points.

Lexi Pinkinton tallied 12 points to lead Belding.
