The accolades and accomplishments for Wayland High School all-state senior golf ace Ali Martus just keep coming.
Martus Friday fired an 18-hole score of 75 to break her own school record of 76. She was competing in the Middleville Thornapple Kellogg Invitational at the Yankee Springs Golf Course.
The obvious individual medalist, as she has been all season long, Martus has earned the rare distinction of breaking 40 in nine-hole rounds and 80 in 18 holes, in all 11 matches in which she has competed.
Wayland didn’t fare quite as well as a team Friday, finishing eighth among the ten teams. North Pointe Christian won the invitational with a team score of 364 and Forest Hills Central was second. Wayland’s score was 402.
The Wildcats’ Hunter Fenton recorded her personal 18-hole best round of 97.
Martus earned the right to compete in the state Class B tournament in her freshman, sophomore and junior years, and barring an unforeseen catastrophe, she will make it four in a row next month.
