Wayland High School graduate Avery Hudson is beginning his third season as a starting guard on the Davenport University basketball team.
Hudson, a 2017 WHS grad, started in all 31 games last year as a sophomore. He shot 42.6% from the field and 40.2% from three-point territory. averaged 15.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. He dished out 4.9 assists per game.
Hudson’s career high in points in one game was 32 against the #7 ranked Ashland Eagles last Feb. 1. He was named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team, named the GLIAC Player of the Week three times… named to the All-GLIAC first team.
During his collegiate career at Davenport he ranks second in free throw percentage with 83%, is seventh
in three-point percentage at 39.2, eighth in career assists with 208 and is tied ninth in three-pointers 111.
As a Wildcat, he played for his father Mike Hudson and averaged 15 points, five rebound, 3.5 assists, 3.5 steals and helped lead team to a 19-2 record and was fifth team all-state in Division 2. He holds the record for most points in a single game with 55 against Forest Hills Eastern in February 2017.
