Big 3rd inning powers Hopkins over Wayland, 13-3

The Hopkins baseball team scored seven runs in the third inning Thursday en route to a 13-3 victory over neighborhood rival Wayland.

Jake Pals, Tyler Zomerlei, Ezran Tehennepe, James Wubben, and Drew Osborn all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Zomerlei singled, scoring one run, and Osborn doubled, scoring another, to highlight the rally.

Brenden Gossman returned to the pitcher’s mound after an injury and went six innings, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out six.

Hopkins collected 14 hits. Zomerlei, Gossman, Tehennepe, Bryce Smith, and Osborn each had multiple hits for Hopkins.

The victory lifted the Vikings’ season record to 6-4 overall.
