The Wayland girls’ varsity basketball team ran into a South Christian outfit that also sported a 5-2 overall record Friday night, but it was the Wildcats who came up short, 29-26, in a defensive struggle.
The Wayland boys’ squad had an even tougher time of it, dropping a 75-37 verdict to the homestanding Sailors.
It doesn’t get any easier next Tuesday for either Wildcat squads. They’ll play league leading Grand Rapids Catholic Central. The girls now are 5-3. The guys are 2-4.
