Boys’ district tourneys get under way Monday

Both the Hopkins and Wayland boys’ basketball teams will play in the Division 2 district post-season tournament at Hamilton High School.

Hopkins (5-16 on the season thus far) will take on Hastings (4-17) at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, in the opening round. Hastings prevailed when they two squads meet in December.

The winner of the district opener then will play Holland Christian (13-7) in the semifinal round Wednesday at 5:30. Holland Christian is the No. 1 seed in the tourney.

The second game that Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. will be host Hamilton (10-11) against Wayland (10-11). The Wildcats won the two teams’ clash in their season opener.

The final round will be played at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28.

Martin will be host for the Division 4 district tourney, which will get under way with Covert (0-13) and Holland Calvary (6-5) at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24.

The winner of the opener will face top-seeded Tri-Unity Christian (18-2) at 5:30 Wednesday. Host Martin (7-14) then will play No. 2 Zion Christian (14-7) at 7 p.m.

The finals will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28.
