Brent Sebright, a 1968 graduate of Hopkins High School, and his wife, Sue, have been chosen to join the Hopkins High School Athletic Hall of Fame this year.
The couple has been major players in the Hopkins Athletic Boosters Club. They both were instrumental in the fund-raising, design, construction, and completion of the Track and Football Complex.
The Sebrights also have strong ties with the Hopkins Lions Club, the local chapter of the FFA and service on various township and village boards.
A spokeperson said, “The HOF Committee and the community are grateful for their dedication to Hopkins Athletics and the athletes of Hopkins Public Schools.”
The first-ever Hopkins High School Athletic Hall of Fame program to honor the community’s heritage and history was established in 2015 by a special nine-member committee and special education teacher Linsey Mitchell, also assistant girls’ basketball coach, who has made it into her master’s degree project. Members of the committee were Athletic Director Adam Valk, Lee Dale (Pete) Arnsman, Rick Hazen, Scott VanBonn, Dan Kisner, Brooke Brenner, Jim Newell, Mitchell and Bob Beck, all coaches, school officials and longtime community members.
Congratulations!
Long overdue, graduations Sue and Brent, you are the best.
