A crash on the northbound U.S.-131 expressway crated a massive traffic slowdown Wednesday afternoon between Martin and Plainwell and from Wayland to Dorr on the freeway.
One motorist at the scene posted on Facebook, “We heard a cop say that ‘people won’t stay off their phones.’
It was reported that a bucket work truck flipped and landed in the median of the highway and its driver self extricated. The driver, after climbing out of the truck, had some cuts and bruises but didn’t want help from emergency services personnel.
A large amount of debris was reported on the north-bound and south-bound lanes of 13.1 Both the north-bound and southbound portions of the expressway were down to one lane.
The Dorr and Wayland fire departments were summoned to the scene to help with traffic.
Someone commented that traffic was backed up way south of Martin.
