The Hopkins softball team stepped ouside league play Wednesday and mercied a struggling Holland West Ottawa team 15-0 in three innings.
The game was shortened to three innings because of the 10-run mercy rule. West Ottawa, 0-2 for the season overall, had lost 26-0 earlier this spring to Coopersville.
The Lady Vikings, meanwhile, hiked their record to 5-2.
Freshman pitcher Jorga Wood hurled three innings to pick up the win. She struck out eight batters and hit one.
