Chris Jasinski

Just as Wayland Union schools promoted from within to hire two new principals, the new head varsity basketball coach will be junior varsity mentor and varsity assistant Chris Jasinski.

Jasinski, has been hired to replace Mike Hudson, who decided to retire from his post just after the 2018-19 season. Hudson had been coach for 26 years.

Jasinski has been a part of the Wayland basketball program since 2005. He was eighth grade boys basketball coach, head freshman coach and head jayvee and varsity assistant coach. He has also been a social studies teacher on staff at Wayland for 13 years with time spent in both the middle school and the high school.

He and his wife, Erin, have three children in the local district, Haylee, Kennedy and Lucas.

“I am excited for this opportunity and have been blessed to be an assistant under Mike Hudson for the last 13 years.” said Jasinski. “I look forward to the challenge of continuing  to build on the successes that Mike has established here at Wayland, while at the same time putting my own footprint on this basketball program.”

Athletic Director, Santino Di Cesare, who played for Hudson, said, “I am excited for Chris to continue to build on the traditions of our highly respected and accomplished boys’ basketball program instilled by Coach Hudson and staff. Chris has high expectations and goals for our program. His service for the past 13 years and vision for the program will provide the necessary tools to help guide the student athletes to become great teammates and classmates.”
