Martin improved its season record to 3-0 Friday evening at New Buffalo with a convincing 38-0 victory.
It was the Clippers’ second straight shutout, coming on the heels of a 20-0 whitewashing of Tri-Unity Christian. They held New Buffalo to one yard of total offense.
Coach Brad Blauvelt said seniors Travis Thorne and Cayden Curry were a dynamic one-two combination for the explosive offensive unit.
Curry rushed for a 16 yards in the 1st quarter for his fifth touchdown of the season and then when on to catch two more, bringing his season total to seven.
Thorne was 7-for-10 throwing the football for 110 yards. He hooked up with Curry for two touchdowns and junior Brayden Eckman for his third TD pass of the game.
The quarterback switched roles on the fourth quarter by catching an 18-yard touchdown pass from junior Gabe Meyers.
Eckman and Jakob Conley lead the defensive legions with eight tackles apiece. Meyers and Rayne Torres both had an interception.
The Clippers will look to move to 4-0 Friday evening when they face old Southwestern Athletic Conference rival Lawrence at Martin.
