“We stop running when we go up by 10 runs,” said Martin coach Jon Gambee, “but until then its open season.
“We swung the bats well tonight, getting 12 hits in the contest and Dill was outstanding on the mound. He is our ace and has pitched very well all year. He had a 2.57 ERA going in tonight and he lowered it to 1.81 with tonight’s effort.”
In the nightcap, Tyler Smith went the whole way, giving up five hits, walking three and striking out six in recording his fourth win. He gave up all four runs but only two were earned.
Martin had 16 hits in the game with Scott Kerley, Garrett Altman and Dill getting three each. Hunderman had two hits as did Saul Altman. Courtesy runner Clayton Brenner scored two runs and single runs were scored by Dill, Smith, Curry and freshman Joey Verberkmoes.
The victories bring Martin’s season record to 5-7. The Clippers will travel to Bangor Thursday.
