Davenport benefits from 2 more former Wildcat softballers

Wayland Haley ObettsHigh SchoBritt McLainol graduates Haley Obetts and Britt McLain are on the roster of the Davenport University softball team this spring.

The Panthers, ranked No. 23 in he latest NAIA poll, currently are playing in their southern trip and they opened their season with an 8-0, 7-0 doubleheader sweep over Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Obetts, a 2013 graduate of Wayland High School and sophomore first sacker for Davenport, had a successful season debut with a double, two singles and three runs batted in.

McLain, who graduated from Wayland last year, is listed on the roster as a freshman catcher-outfielder.

Both former Wildcats played for coach Cheri Ritz’s team. They are not the only ones, as Panther Amber Getty played four years before graduating last fall.
