David Flowers of Wyoming has been hired as Hopkins girls’ varsity basketball coach.
Flower, who succeeds Tim Hoogewind, who resigned after one season, is the third girls’ hoops coach in three years. John Robinson retired a little more than a year ago after a 12-8 regular season and Hoogewind was 12-9 in his one campaign.
Flowers was boys’ freshman coach last season at Zeeland East and was junior varsity girls’ coach at Zeeland West for three seasons. He guided the Lowell freshmen girls for three years, as well as a Wyoming Park junior varsity assistant.
Now a paraprofessional at Zeeland East, Flowers graduated from Wyoming Park High School in 2007 and was better known then for playing football.
