Wayland High School bowling coach Bill Holbrook isn’t just dreaming about doing something, he’s actually doing it.
Holbrook, whohas guided the Lady Wildcats to a league co-championship and is mentor of the state Division 2 runner-up (Sydney Urben), now is listed on the roster of the Cornerstone University bowling squad. At 46 years of age, he very easily is the oldest member of the eight-member Golden Eagles’ team.
“I am getting the opportunity of a lifetime to fulfill one of my long time dreams that I just assumed would never happen now,” Holbrook posted on Facebook “I had my first practice as a college athlete! Yes at 46 years old! I am on Cornerstone University’s men’s bowling team and it’s a varsity sport, not a club sport. Today was my first practice. All of my kids are older than ALL of the kids on this team. I am very excited for this chance and was even a little nervous today! I even have a profile on their athletic website.”
