Former Wayland High School ace pitcher Emma Ludema continues to impress at Calvin College this spring.

The freshman Knights hurler tossed a one-hit shutout at MIAA rival Albion Tuesday in the nightcap of a doubleheader sweep. Ludema, now 7-2 on the mound for the season, walked only one and struck out five in six innings of work.

She was a four-year starter for coach Cheri Ritz’s Wildcats and is perhaps having the greatest impact at the collegiate level since Mallory Teunissen pitched for Davenport University from 2016 through 2019.
