Gobles again proves it’s unstoppable in girls’ hoops

Gracie Shettler had five rebounds for Martin in a losing cause against Gobles.

Gobles by far is in a class by itself in Class C and Class D girls’ basketball this season.

The Tigers hiked their overall season record to 19-0 Friday night by pinning a 45-26 loss on a pretty good Martin outfit, which has lost only three times this season, but twice to Gobles.

The Tigers indeed took control of this one early with a 27-12 advantage at the half and they cruised to victory, cementing their Southwest Athletic Conference championship.

The Lady Clippers suffered through another horrible shooting night, making only 28 percent from the field and they couldn’t manage any threes.

Kiaya Warner led Martin with seven points and she dished out four assists. Briana Warner added six points. Faith Guritz gathered six rebounds and Gracie Shettler had five.

The loss dropped Martin’s overall season record to 12-3. It will play two more regular season games in the coming week before being host to the Class D district tournament starting Wednesday, March 6. The Clippers will be at Constantine Tuesday and at home against Galesburg-Augusta Thursday.
