Wyoming Godwin Heights, a perennial prep basketball powerhouse, halted Hopkins’ six-game winning streak Friday evening with an 83-42 verdict.
The Wolverines, ranked No. 6 in the latest Associated Press Class B poll, now are 7-1 on the season overall, with their only loss coming in overtime to Class A Forest Hills Central in the Cornerstone Holiday Tournament.
Hopkins, now 6-2 overall, is playing three consecutive contests against state-raked opponents. The Vikings Tuesday night defeated Tri-Unity Christian, No. 2 in Class D and previously unbeaten.
Hopkins will play the third in the series of ranked opponents Tuesday evening when it meets Grandville Calvin Christian, rated No. 1 in Class C. Both Calvin and Godwin are members of the O-K Silver Conference, along with Hopkins.
