
The Wayland softball team bounced back from an upset loss last weekend in the Thornapple Kellogg Invitational by sweeping a doubleheader Monday against O-K Gold Conference rival Grand Rapids Northview.
The Green Wildcats beat the Northview Red Wildcats 17-2 and 20-5.
Madi Ludema took the victory on the mound in the first game and led the offensive attack, going 5-for-5, with two home runs and eight RBIs.
Harmony Laker was 3-for-4, with two doubles. Kaylee Lown was 3-for-5 with a double. Rae Stallard had two doubles. Shelby VanHouten and Rae Cardosa both added singles. Mackenzie Kositzky added a home run, as Wayland collected 16 hits in all.
The Wildcats combined for 17 hits in game two, with Harmony Laker picking up the victory on the mound.
Ludema again led the offense, going 3-for-4, with two doubles and a home run. Laker added two singles.
Mackenzie Kositzky had a double and a single. Kaylee Lown did the same. One of Shelby VanHouten’s hits was home run. Rae Cardosa unloaded two home runs and four RBIs. Laney Wolf had a double and a single. Kennedy Lown came up with the game winning double.
The Wildcats are now 16-4 overall and 6-0 in the league standings.
