Wayland High School senior Haven Baker earned top honors Friday as top female bowler in the Allegan/South-Haven Tournament at Spectrum Lanes in Grand Rapids,
She finished near the top of the men’s bracket as well by rolling a 427 for her two games.
“I saw her last few rolls in Baker games, and she was on fire!” Remarked boys’ coach Sherry Miklusicak.
The coach, however, said, “It was definitely not our day today on the lanes. We found ourselves in third place after the first game and I expected we would do better in the second… We didn’t.”
Senior ace Kyle VanEss rolled games of 209 and 177 which was good for 10th place overall for the boys. Dominik Baker had a game of 178 as did Jayse Henkel.
“Our Baker games are usually our strength, but not today as we continued to spiral out of the standings. We needed to make the top four scores to make the cut.”
Miklusicak estimated that the Wildcat boys eventually came in sixth or seventh among the 12 teams competing.
