The Martin girls’ varsity basketball team absorbed its third consecutive defeat this season with a 36-27 verdict at the hands of Saugatuck.

The Clippers fell behind 9-4 in the opening quarter and then really went into a tank the rest of the first half, spotting Saugatuck by two touchdowns, 21-7, at intermission. They improved significantly in the third period, outscoring the Indians 13-8 and played them even the rest of the way.

Jazmine Hildebrand once again was the top scorer for Martin with 18 points, two-third of the team’s total.

Kiri Tiemeyer had 15 points for Saugatuck and Maddie Moore 12. The two combined for three-fourths of the Indians’ final tally.
