Hopkins’ Ashtyn Bennett takes 6th in state tourney

Ashtyn Bennett of Hopkins placed sixth in the state in the Division 3 wrestling tournament Friday in the 125-pound division. The Viking, who established the school record for victories in a season with more than 150, won his first two matches on the day, lost in the semifinals and eventually finished sixth. He almost didn’t even wrestle at state because of Covid protocol, but a judge granted the chance to compete. He now is one of four Hopkins High School wrestlers to achieve all-state accolades.
