Hopkins sophomore Brendan Gossman placed 15th out of 277 bowlers who competed in the 2016 Michigan State USBC Pepsi bowling tournament in Bay City earlier this year. Gossman came up with a score 1,268 pins, just one fewer than 14th place and two fewer than the 12th place finisher. Noah Wells of Casco was the winner with a score of 1,412. Gossman and his Viking teammates last winner qualified for the state Division 3 tournament and he personally finished seventh among 60 individual rollers, but lost in the first round of match play.
