The Hopkins boys’ and girls’ bowling teams are hot, but the Wayland boys are not.
Hopkins boys beat Kelloggsville 23-7 Monday, avenging one of their two losses in the O-K Silver Conference earlier this year.
The Vikings won the Baker games 211-155 and 201-128. High scores were Mike Schumaker 245 and Brenden Gossman 243.
The Lady Vikings also pulled out a big 26-4 victory over Kelloggsville, a team that tied them last month.
Hopkins girls came out of the Baker games up 10-0. After the first match, the girls secured the victory taking four of five match points and total pin count of first match.
Courtney Tortorelli had the high game for the Hopkins girls with a 172 game. Second game Hopkins girls took two of five match points and total pins increasing their lead to 26-4. High game of the second match went to Hannah Wubben who rolled a 169
Meanwhile, the Wayland boys’ team has suddenly gone ice cold and lost an O-K Gold Conference dual match to Forest Hills Eastern, 28-2.
“We were simply inconsistent and lacked the passion I have seen in the past weeks,” said coach Sherry Miklusicak. “We did not fight back tonight. No boys on either team broke a 200 game or even a 190 game for that matter. Dylan Roberts and Dillon Smith took each of their points in the last match to keep us from being shut out.
“So we have some things to work on.”
