Wayland’s Dylan Pallett recorded an excellent 5K time of 16:28.82 and Hopkins’ Jack Estelle was right behind him at 16:40.75 in the Allegan Invitational Saturday morning at the Allegan County Fairgrounds.
Pallett checked in fourth and Estelle sixth. The Vikings as a team scored 107 points and finished fourth. Neither the Wayland girls nor boys fielded enough runners to record a team score.
Coming in second for Hopkins was freshman Kash Moored in 17:20.43, good for 15th place overall, Kenyon Katje 21st in 18:44.68.
Following Pallett were Ethan Manning, 19th in 18:06.08, sophomore Mason Fein 22nd in 18:49.58.
Kambria Moored and Allison Breining ran closely together in the race for Hopkins. Moored finished 12th in 21:09.18 and Breining 13th in 21:09.22.
Lillian Dewey crossed the finish line in 17th place.
The Viking girls also scored 107 team points and checked in fifth place.
Pacing the Wildcat ladies was freshman Abree VanDenBrink, 16th in 21:55.4, followed by Megan Stack in 22nd and Ashley Larsen in in 23rd.
