Hopkins boys, Wayland girls lost Tuesday night games

In two high school varsity basketball games Tuesday evening that were not reported or belatedly reported, Hopkins boys lost at Comstock Park 58-56 and the Wayland girls absorbed a 44-33 defeat at Caledonia.

Comstock Park scored with 0.5 seconds left on the clock on a side out-of-bounds play. A perfect pass was thrown to Logan Serba, who put it in as time expired. He led all scorers with 28 points.

Coach Jake Jewitt said the Vikings “battled back from early foul trouble and was pretty balanced on offense. Their defense in the second half got them back into the game.”

It was the Vikings boys’ season opener.

The Lady Wildcats’ overall season record fell to 1-2 with their loss to Caledonia. They will take a break on the schedule until Thursday, Dec. 28, when they play in the Cornerstone University Holiday Tournament.
