The Hopkins boys’ varsity bowling team owns a 3-1 overall season record after registering a couple of dual match victories this week, The Lady Vikings also won Wednesday over Wyoming Lee, 23-7.
Hopkins girls team started with a 6-4 advantage after the two Baker games. The Lady Vikings dominated the first game taking 8 of 9 possible points. Abby Simpson (152), Alayna Ryan (172), Leah Helder(155) and Kennedy Gill (181), each took a point for the girls team in the first head-to-head match. Hopkins took 7 of the 9 points possible in the second match. Abby Simpson rolled another great game with a (153), along with Leah Helder (145), and Alayna Ryan (120), who took points for Hopkins.
The Hopkins boys mirrored the girls against Lee with the Baker games, taking 6 of 10 points. In the first game Hopkins took 7 of 9 points. Noah Dame took a point, Jack Reynolds took a point with a 151, and Josh Tripp took his point. Hopkins took total pins in the first game by 10 pins.
In the second game the Vikings led 13-6, with the game still within Lee’s grasp, Hopkins took all but one point in the final game. Seth Burchardt (152), Charles Benting (142), James Miller (173), and Josh Tripp with a career high game of 238 all took points.
The Vikings found themselves in a tough match Monday against Godwin Heights, spotting the Wolverines 10-0 after the Baker games before eking out a 15.5 to 14.5 victory.
Hopkins battled back in the first head-to-head competition of the day taking 6 of the 9 total points and took the total pin count in the first head to head by 4 pins. Josh Tripp and Charles Benting took a point each in the first game.
Hopkins went into the second head to head game down 13-6 but took 3.5 out of 5 in head-to-head matches. Hopkins got points from Jack Reynolds, Charles Benting and Seth Burchardt. The half-point came from a tied match for Josh Tripp. Hopkins took total pins that game and total pins in combined games.
