Viking cross-country teams have rough day at Portage

The Hopkins girls’ cross-country team finished in 35^th place among 45 teams that competed Saturday in the Portage Invitational.

The Lady Vikings combined for 878 team points. East Grand Rapids won with 88 Petoskey was second with 120.

Freshman Kambria Moored crossed the finish line first for Hopkins, in 74^th place, followed by sophomore Helena Kerber in 84^th, Abigail Zalis 209^th, freshman Navaya Ingle 243^rd and Neveah Helderop 26^th.

There were 306 individual runners in the race.

The Viking boys finished 44^th among the 46 teams. Grand Rapids Christian won the team competition.

Adam Ball led the way in 173^rd, followed by Caleb Beilby, Ryan Williams, Kenyon Katje and Nathan Onderlinde.
