Hopkins High School freshman Laura Velderman took third place in the 11-to-14-year-old division at the annual Winter Blast 5K run at Grandville Calvin Christian High School. Velderman finished 10th the state Division 3 cross-country meet in November and was O-K Silver Conference individual champion last fall. She plans to run track for the Lady Vikings this spring.
