The Hopkins High School girls’ track team came in first at the Comstock Invitational Monday and the boys’ squad was runner-up.

The Lady Vikings scored 155 team points, almost 15 better than second place Centreville. The guys were two and a half points shy of the championship with 125, while Grand Rapids Covenant Christian has 127.5.

Viking sophomore Kambria Moored once again outclassed the field in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 16.76 seconds, more than three seconds better than her nearest competitor. She also claimed first in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 50.74 seconds, more than four seconds faster than the runner-up.

Moored, Ellarie Baugh, Sierra Emaus and Riley Homrich hooked up to win the 400 relay in 51.95.

Navy Ingle, Ava VanderVeen, Kara Rodenhisler and Jaeden Harshberger took first in the 1600 relay in 4:28.2.

Ellarie Baugh was the winner in the pole vault by clearing 6-6.

Sierra Emaus won the long jump with a leap of a personal best 15-10.

Freshman Homrich and junior Emaus finished 2-3 in the 100-meter dash with their personal best clockings of 13.31 and 13.57 seconds, respectively.

Kambria Moored and Homrich went 2-3 in the 200, with Moored’s 28.05 a personal best.

Jaeden Harshberger checked in second in the open 400 with a time of 1:03.92.

Nevaeah Helderop was runner-up in the 1600 at 5:53.88.

Leah Schumacher finished second in the discus with a toss of 79-10.

For the boys, Hopkins turned in a boatload of second-place finishes.

However, Miles Corneille, Kaden Edwards, Jack Estelle and Jacob Holder took first in the 3200 relay in 8:53.49.

Mason Tomes won the shot put at 44-09 and threw a personal 127-6 to win the discus..

Trent Baugh was second in the 400 at 53.98.

Freshman Jack Estelle finished second in the 3200-meter run at 10:52.27.

Jacob Helder was runner-up in the 300 intermediate hurdles in 43.58 and Clayton Kerber added a fourth.

Landen Klinge, Alexander Chavez, Kerber and Noah Corneille combined efforts to take second in the 800 relay in 1:34.63.

Noah Corneille, Helder, Miles Corneille and Trent Baugh worked together to finish second in the 1600 relay in 3:33.87, just 16-hundredths of a second off the winning pace.
