The Hopkins girls’ varsity basketball team lost a tight defensive struggle, 37-35, against Covenant Christian Thursday evening in the regular season finale.

The Lady Vikings will enter the Division 2 district tournament Monday at Hudsonville Unity Christian with a 12-8 overall record vs. the host team.

Hopkins and the Chargers were tied at 17-all at intermission and the latter ballclub was nursing a one-point lead as they headed into the final eight minutes.

Kennedy and Evangelina Helderop both scored seven points to lead the Lady Vikings.
