The Hopkins girls’ varsity basketball team Tuesday night scored a 43-29 victory over O-K Silver Conference rival Kellogsville for its second straight league win.

Junior Mady Weber came up with 15 points and Ellie Sebright added 13 for the Lady Vikings, who now are 3-5 overall for the season.

Hopkins boys, however, had a miserable second half against Kelloggsville and lost 71-53 after leading 27-26 at the half.

Meanwhile, the Wayland girls ran into one of the top girls’ basketball squads in West Michigan at Grand Rapids Catholic Central and lost 57-32 to drop its record to 5-4 overall.

The Wildcat boys also ran into a Catholic Central juggernaught and lost 94-41.

Martin boys were another outfit that won its second straight in a 50-47 squeaker over Saugatuck. The girls, racked by injuries, however, lost 45-15.
