The Hopkins girls’ varsity basketball team Tuesday night came up with a tight 39-37 victory over O-K Silver Conference rival Kelloggsville.

The verdict left the Lady Vikings with a 7-10 overall record, 5-6 in league play. It also came on the heels of a two-point loss Friday evening to NorthPointe Christian.

The Hopkins boys, however, lost 69-55 to Kelloggsville and saw their overall record slip to 4-10, 3-8 in the league.

Wayland boys had a rough night in taking on O-K Gold Conference leader and state-ranked Grand Rapids Catholic Central and lost 91-38. The Lady Wildcats didn’t fare much better, dropping a 60-35 decision. The boys now are 4-11 and the girls 9-8 overall.

Martin boys and girls both suffered defeats at the hands of Saugatuck. The guys fell 57-46 and the Lady Clippers 56-35, dropping below the .500 mark at 8-9.
