It’s too bad that the basketball season is nearing the end, at least in the eyes of the Hopkins girls’ varsity.

The Lady Vikings, who have had a tough year with Covid and on the hardcourt, pulled off their second straight victory Friday evening against a team that had beaten them earlier. On Thursday night they defeated Calvin Christian and Friday night they breezed past NorthPointe Christian 49-32. The Mustangs beat them by 19 points last month.

The triumph lifted Hopkins to an overall season record of 6-9.

Otherwise, the Hopkins boys’ O-K Silver contest at NorthPointe was canceled by Coronavirus protocol. The Vikings’ overall season record remains at 7-7.

Both the Wayland boys’ and girls’ squads were idle again Friday, not playing Middleville Thornapple Kellogg, as neither has seen action since the declaration of the high school closing for in-person learning a week ago.
