The Hopkins varsity cross-country teams went south for the Buchanan Invitational Saturday, with the girls finishing sixth among 13 teams and the boys eighth among 10.
South Haven won the girls’ race with 74 points and Zeeland East was runner-up with 88. The Lady Vinings checked in with 146, finishing behind larger schools.
Junior Jasmine Fisher was fourth individually with a 5K time of 21:04. Junior teammate Laura Velderman was 12th in 22:10.08, Emma Helder 18th in 22:27.3, Grace Beckwith 68th and freshman Emmilee Schumaker 85th.
Berrien Springs took top honors for the boys’ competition with 60 points and Zeeland East was second with 72. Hopkins had 187 for eighth.
Sophomore Todd Henley finished 11th in 17:54 to lead the Vikings. Junior Dan Rausch was 16th in 18:22.5. Joe Ludlam finished 78th, Christopher Totorelli 86th and Jake Pastoor 101st.
