The Hopkins girls’ varsity volleyball team captured the Switek Memorial Invitational championship Saturday. “The team started slowly in the morning with a loss to Fremont in pool play but rallied to play much better in bracket play,” said coach Terri Wisser.

In pool play, they defeated Fennville (25-12, 25-10) and lost to Fremont (19-25, 21-25).  In power pool play, the Vikings defeated Holland (25-21, 25-18) and Allegan (25-15, 23-25, 15-8).  In the Gold Bracket, we defeated Martin (25-16, 25-11), Fremont (25-11, 25-15, and in the finals Bridgman (25-14, 25-20).

Leading Hopkins in individual statistics for the day were:

• Kills: Corrie Wisser 54, Kate Cleypool 46, Mady Weber 29, Lyla Reynolds 20, Lilly Iciek 10, Peyton Roxbury 9, Reid Groenhout 6.

• Assists: Corrie Wisser 116, Ellie Sebright 14.

• Aces: Corrie Wisser/Ellie Sebright 12, Kylee Sykes 10, Mady Weber/Kate Cleypool 6, Lilly Iciek 5.

• Blocks: Corrie Wisser 10, Lyla Reynolds 5, Lilly Iciek 4, Mady Weber 3, Peyton Roxbury 2.

• Digs: Ellie Sebright 59, Corrie Wisser 58, Kate Cleypool 52, Mady Weber 34, Kylee Sykes 14.

The Vikings now own an overall record of 26-8-4 and they are 5-0 in O-K Silver Conference dual matches.
