The Hopkins girls and boys’ varsity basketball teams took big steps forward Tuesday night in the O-K Silver Conference standings.

The Lady Vikings made a solid statement as a serious contender of the Silver crown, defeating Kelloggsville 54-23 to move their league record to 4-0 and 8-3 overall. The guys came through with a 48-33 triumph on the road to improve to 2-2 in the league and 7-3 overall.

Senior pivot Mady Weber had a monster game with 29 points, including seven three-point field goals, and Kate Cleypool and Flannery Johnston scored six points each.

For the boys, Tristen Perry led all scorers with 18 points.  Noah Corneille had a hot shooting night from beyond the arc and finished with 14, while Trent Baugh pitched in 10.

Both Vikings squads will be back on the court Friday night at Wyoming Godwin Heights.
