Hopkins High School graduate Brenden Gossman and the Concordia University men’s bowling team returned to Wolverine-Hoosier Conference competition Friday in the first of four WHAC Jamborees scheduled this season.

Concordia finished 11th in the competition in Kalamazoo, which featured three games and two baker sets. The Cardinals totaled 997, 873, and 892 in their three games respectively and posted scores of 807 and 842 in the baker sets.

The WHAC took additional measures by splitting the participating members into two pods. Pod A included Concordia with their location set for Continental Lanes in Kalamazoo. The scores from pod B were combined with A to have one scoring system. The Cardinals finished 11th overall with a pin total of 4411.

Gossman led the Cardinals in the single games with scores of 234,  198, and 187 for a 619 total. Gossman’s total was good enough for an 18th place finish.

Spring Arbor took first place as a team with a pin total of 5288. Austin Schultz from Huntington recorded a 705 pin total to secure his first place finish.

The next WHAC Jamboree will take place Jan. 30, when Concordia will travel to Five Star Lanes in Sterling Heights. Lawrence Tech will serve as the host for the second WHAC Jamboree.
