Senior Mady Weber on the dribble vs. Allegan.

The Hopkins boys’ and girls’ basketball teams enjoyed a pretty good night Tuesday in ballgames against Allegan.

The boys pushed their overall season record to 4-1 with a 54-45 victory, their fourth straight this season. The girls lifted their overall season record to 4-2 with a convincing 47-32 triumph over the Tigers.

The Lady Vikings have won their last four in a row after dropping their first two. The guys have won four straight after losing their season opener to Wayland.

Boys’ coach Jake Jewett said, “We had to fight off a late surge by Allegan when they had a very hot shooting third quarter.

Four Hopkins guys scored in double figures.Trent Baugh led the way with 11, Zander Hitzler with 10, Micah Estelle with 10 and Tristen Perry with 10.

“Jayden Prather had another solid night, defending one of Allegan’s best players and finishing with 7 points,” Jewett added.

The Vikings play next on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Muskegon Catholic Central.
