Hopkins registered an impressive non-league victory Friday evening on the road against a Morley-Stanwood ballclub that is coming off five consecutive post-season playoff appearances.

The Vikings made it look easier than what was feared by recording a 45-12 rout. They exploded for 24 points in the second quarter to mount a 32-6 advantage at the half and they were able to let just about everybody to get in on the act by the fourth period.

Junior Colin Weber started the scoring parade in the opening quarter with an eight-yard TD run and he ran in the two-point conversion. Weber scored on a two-yard run early in the second period and added the extra two points.

After Jason Bialik raced 44 yards to the end zone for the Mohawks, Carsen DeLao went in from four yards out and the Vikings added six more points on a 37-yard pass from Trevor Smith to Hunter Braford and then a two-point conversion by Matt Reynolds.

So Hopkins had four touchdowns and four conversions in as many tries by halftime.

The Vikings added a two-yard touchdown run by Weber in the third quarter and Ethan Dame scored from three yards out in the fourth, with Dravyn Rooks kicking the extra point.

Bialik scored the other Morley-Stanwood touchdown on a two-yard run near the end of the game.

Colin Weber rushed for 166 yards, a figure matched by Bialik, The Vikings churned out more than 300 yards in their ground game. Hunter Braford had two pass catches for 53 yards.

Ethan Gilder led the defensive unit with eight total tackles and assists, Nathan Tew had seven and DeLao and T. Long six apiece.

Hopkins, now 2-0 overall, will begin defense of its O-K Silver Conference championship with a game Friday at home against Belding.
