Hopkins ace harrier Jack Estelle Saturday afternoon qualified for the state Division 2 cross-country meet Nov. 2 in Brooklyn by placing 12th individually in the regionals at Allendale.
The top 15 individual runners qualify, and Estelle was up to the challenge by covering the fast course in 16:17.39.
Meanwhile, the Vikings as a team placed eighth in the 13-team field. Host Allendale emerged as regional champion.
Freshman Kash Moored finished out of the qualifying by three places, running the course in 16:40.84. Senior Kenyon Katje closed out his cross career with a time of 18:26.28, good for 46th place. Rounding out the scoring were Isaiah Robinson in 76th place and Cole VerStrate in 77th.
The Hopkins girls’ squad finished ninth in the field of 12 teams. Aeeland East captured the regional title.
Senior Kambria Moored closed out her cross country career in 29th place with a time of 21:03.5. Allison Breining was 43rd, Lillian Dewey 49th, freshman Tuesday Stevens 58th and Navaya Ingle 62nd.
