Hopkins man is ‘favorite teacher’ quarterfinalist

Hopkins High School and Middle School choir teacher Alex Cross is a quarterfinalist in the “America’s Favorite Teacher” competition after coming in first place out of his 75-person group over the last several weeks.

This competition has become a community event for town and district, and “If I were to win, we would be privileged to host an assembly with Bill Nye (the Science Guy) at Hopkins next year. Many people in our community are seeing this as an opportunity to put Hopkins on the map, and have found an identity in it.”

Cross said the choir program in Hopkins has seen tremendous growth in the last three years, but this contest is a voting-based competition.

Voting in the quarterfinals phase is under way on the Internet Voters must have a Facebook account. The voting is free and can be done daily.
