The Hopkins varsity softball team hiked its overall season record to 17-6 Monday with a doubleheader sweep over Wyoming Lee, 16-0 and 19-4.
The Lady Vikings, now 11-2 in the O-K Silver Conference, will step outside league play Thursday with a twin bill against Hamilton.
Hopkins bashed out 20 hits in the first game, and coach Amy Bishop-Smith noted, “Everyone in our line up had multiple hits.”
Junior Madelyn Schans was the winning pitcher and she made her day even more enjoyable by recording her sixth home run of the season and driving in three runs.
Freshman Emily Dimock led the offesive attack in the nightcap with four hits, all singles. Joining the party were Tori Mller, Sierra Smith, Schans, Dimock, Dykstra, and Jasmine Machin, who each had RBIs.
Smith, yet another freshman, was the winning pitcher. She lasted four innings, allowing three hits and four runs while striking out five.
