
The Hopkins boys’ varsity basketball team scored its second victory in as many tries this season Friday by posting a 51-39 victory over visiting Muskegon Catholic Central.
Junior Nick Schultz finished with 12 points, and senior Micah Estelle added 10. Cruz Hitzler chipped in 7 points and, according to coach Jake Jewett played stellar pressure defense all game.
The Vikings will be back in action next Tuesday at Grand River Prep.
Meanwhile, Wayland absorbed a heartbreaking loss as Keegan Hulst hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to earn Holland a 53-50 decision. The Wildcats fell to 0-2 with the verdict.
Martin also fell to 0-2 Friday night with a 77-37 defeat at the hands of Bloomingdale.
