The Hopkins High School volleyball squad bounced back from a disappointing dual meet loss Thursday to NorthPointe Christian to capture first place in the Switek Memorial Invitational Saturday.
The Lady Vikings bested neighborhood rival Martin in a best of three-set final round, 21-25, 25-21 and 18-16.
The Vikings defeated Holland in their opening round of the single elimination tournament and then got past West Michigan Aviation in the semifinals. Martin won over Black River in its opening round and then upset Wayland in the semifinals.
The victories lifted Hopkins’ overall season record to 17-11-3. The Lady Vikings are third in the O-K Silver Conference standings. Martin also is battling for first place in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
