Hopkins volleyball team is 2nd at Homer Invitational

The Hopkins High School varsity volleyball team Saturday finished second at the Homer Invitational.

Coach Terri Wisser said, “It was a long day with six matches and the team ended the day with a close loss to Madison in the finals.”

In pool play, the Lady Vikings lost to Madison: 21-25, 16-25 ; split with Dowagiac: 25-19, 17-25, and defeated Tekonsha: 25-13, 25-17.

They went on to bracket play, where they beat Constantine: 12-25, 25-23, 15-13, and host Homer: 25-21, 25-13, but then lost in the finals to Madison 20-25 and 24-26.

Individual statistical leaders  for the daywere:

• Assists: Corrie Wisser 102, Avery Roxbury/Kate Cleypool 7.

• Kills: Kate Cleypool 44, Corrie Wisser 39, Avery Roxbury 32, Mady Weber 30.

• Blocks: Corrie Wisser/Mady Weber 5, Kate Cleypool 1.

• Aces: Corrie Wisser 11, Maya Kerber 8, Avery Roxbury 6, Ellie Sebright/Kate Ceypool/Mady Weber 3.

Digs: Corrie Wisser 39, Mady Weber 31, Kate Cleypool 24, Ryley Dykstra/Avery Roxbury 22, Ellie Sebright 20, Maya Kerber 9.

Hopkins’ O-K Silver Conference dual match record remains at 4-1 and the team’s overall record now is 17-11-3.
