O-K Conference realignment of athletic teams finally has been approved by its governing council, being adopted 35-14.

Proposed realignments for the 2020-21 academic year were rejected, and this last tally was only two votes better than the two-thirds majority needed. As a result, the O-K Black Division was eliminated, leaving six competitive conferences. Five of those divisions will include eight teams, while the O-K Silver will have nine.

The O-K Gold will say good-bye to current member Wyoming and welcome back Ottawa Hills and Grand Rapids Catholic Central. Wyoming is headed to the O-K Green.

The O-K Gold Conference next fall will include Wayland, South Christian, Ottawa Hills, Catholic Central, Cedar Springs, Middleville Thornapple Kellogg and Forest Hills Eastern.

In one of the proposals rejected, the Gold was supposed to add Hamilton, but it now will head to the O-K Blue.

As suggested earlier, the O-K Silver will include Hopkins, Sparta, Kelloggsville, Calvin Christian, Godwin Heights, Belding, Comstock Park, Wyoming Lee and NorthPointe Christian. The two newcomers are Sparta and Comstock Park.

East Grand Rapids and Grand Rapids Christian are leaving the Gold to join the White, exchanging places with Ottawa Hills and Cedar Springs. Catholic Central is returning to the Gold after spending the past four seasons in the Blue
