Hopkins, Wayland volleyball seasons end in districts

Both the Hopkins and Wayland varsity volleyball seasons came to an end this week at the Class B district tournament at Otsego.

The Vikings completed their campaign with a three-set loss Thursday to the host school 25-13, 25-8 and 30-28.

Leading the Lady Vikings statistically were:

• Assists – Hannah Van de Roovaart 20.
  • Kills – Lexi Merren 9, Meghan Schulz 8, Macy Arndt 4.
• Aces – Mikayla Bulich 1
  • Blocks – Meghan Schulz 1.
  • Digs – Hailey Shank 21, Lexi Merren 16, Logan Brummel 9.

Hopkins completed the season with an overall record of Overall Record 29-26-2 and its O-K Silver Conference record was 4-2.

Wayland lost in straight sets Tuesday to Plainwell to finish with an overall season record of 17-24-1.

Otsego and Plainwell were set to pay one another in the district finals Saturday.
