The softball career of 2012 Wayland High School graduate Kayla Merice is coming to a close as she and her Alma College teammates are competing in the MIAA post-season tournament.
The Scots have just won the MIAA tourney and have earned an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III tournament, so her last season isn’t over yet.
Merice, who starred at catcher for the Lady Wildcats in high school and for the Scots over the past four years, already has graduated with a business degree at Alma.
Her best season was as a junior when she played in all 47 games, had 129 at bats, 48 hits with a batting average of .372, plated 19 runs, 12 doubles, one home run, and 22 RBIs.
In this season she has batted .279 in 38 games with 12 RBIs. She hit five home runs as a sophomore and had a batting average of .259 and hit .281 as a freshman.
