The Wayland girls’ varsity basketball team slipped to 0-7 overall on the season Tuesday with a 57-26 loss to Grand Rapids Christian.
The junior varsity Lady Wildcats earlier in the day lost a 57-53 squeaker at Christian.
“The game was neck-n-neck the whole way as the Wildcats played one of their best games all season,” said coach Coralie Ritz. Foul trouble hurt the Wildcats late in the game… Nevertheless, the team of the ‘Lady Cats played hard and almost pulled out a victory.”
The Eagles had nine players score while the Wildcats, who are dressing seven players these days, had five players score.
Grace Dollarhide led the team with 24 points, 4 for 4 from the line, with 6 rebounds. Evangelina Helderop had 15 points, 2 for 8 from the line, and 3 rebounds. Breyala Pou had 8 points.
